If you’re looking for a location that feels peaceful without having to hike for miles, couples photos at Elk Fields might just be your answer. Mikayla and Kelton chose this beautiful spot in North Bend, WA for their anniversary session, and honestly, it couldn’t have been a better fit. Between the tall grass, the mountain views, and the cloudy skies rolling in, everything felt quiet, cozy, and a little moody in the best way. It was one of those sessions where nothing felt forced, we just wandered around, found pretty pockets of light, and let the evening unfold.

One of the things I love most about Elk Fields is that it doesn’t need much to be beautiful. The scenery does its thing without stealing the spotlight, which means your photos end up feeling way more about you than the location. The mountains sitting in the background, the endless fields, and the soft colors all work together to create a setting that feels effortless. That was exactly the vibe Mikayla and Kelton brought. They spent the evening walking through the grass, laughing at each other, sneaking in forehead kisses, and dancing around like no one else was there. There wasn’t a big agenda or a complicated vision, we just leaned into what felt natural, and those always end up being my favorite sessions!

I know cloudy weather can make couples nervous, but I’m always secretly hoping for it. The light is so soft, the mountains look even more dramatic with clouds hanging over them, and everything takes on these earthy tones that photograph so well. It’s the kind of weather that makes a gallery feel timeless instead of trendy. One of my favorite little moments was when Kelton surprised Mikayla with a bouquet during the session. It wasn’t something elaborate, but it was such a sweet surprise and made the whole evening feel even more personal. Add in a few dreamy film-inspired photos, a wide-open field, and two people who genuinely love being around each other, and you really don’t need much else.

If you’ve been dreaming about a session that feels relaxed, natural, and more like hanging out than posing for an hour, I’d love to help make that happen. Whether you’re celebrating an anniversary, an engagement, or just want updated photos together, sessions like this are such a fun way to slow down and document this season of your life.
